Do I need an International Insurance Certificate (green card)?
Approximately two weeks after delivery of your new car, you will receive a digital International Insurance Certificate*. In general, authorities will accept the certificate of insurance on your phone, but in some cases you may be asked to show a paper version. It is therefore wise to print out the insurance certificate and keep it in your car.
In some countries, carrying an original International Insurance Certificate (IIC) with you is mandatory. If you are going to or travelling through Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, Morocco, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Ukraine, Tunisia, Turkey or Belarus, request an original International Insurance Certificate from the leasing company, stating your registration number.
*The International Insurance Certificate was formerly known as the Green Card. The insurance certificate no longer has to be green and is now also printed on white paper.
